Entertainment centre hosts three- day Western show- downSpaghetti-western fans can prepare to saddle-up for a three-day extravaganza celebrating the great works of movie score composer, Ennio Morricone at Wellington Shire Council’s Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre, Friday 29-31 October. By Wellington Shire Council - 6th October 2004 - Back to News With Grammy and BAFTA awards, and Oscar nominations under his belt, Morricone’s 50-year career spanning over 400 film scores has made him a film industry legend for his moving, imaginative and innovative musical accompaniments.
The extravaganza kicks-off on 29 October with the screening of Clint Eastwood’s epic masterpiece, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, which epitomises the power of Morricone’s trademark spaghetti-western scores and in-the-saddle rhythms.
The weekend’s main event on Saturday night will be action-packed as five-piece band The Ennio Morricone Experience spectacularly transform Morricone scores from the big screen to the stage, including heroic gunfighter ballads and bungled shoots. Uniting instruments with sound effects, their incredible performance promises to be a truly comic western tribute - underlining why they have been a highlight of festivals across Australia, including the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne.
Why not bring your friends and combine the Ennios with the Dinner Fiesta at Bis for a night of food and fun.
The three-day event rounds-off with a fine illustration of Morricone’s diversity - the matinee screening of The Mission, starring Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons – a story of two men who bring ‘civilisation’ to a native tribe in the jungles of South America - on Sunday 31 October from 3pm.
Great ticketing packages are available and prices start from $8. For bookings and more information please call the entertainment centre’s box office on 5143 3200.
