A Celebration Of "Community"

Tickets are on sale for the Wellington Shire Mayoral Ball, to be held in Sale on Saturday, September 20.

By Wellington Shire Council - 19th August 2003 - Back to News

Sponsored by Telstra Country Wide, the Mayoral Ball offers a chance for the broader community of Wellington Shire to congregate and celebrate the people that make this region such a wonderful place to live.

It’s a time for fun, but it’s also a time to fund-raise!

All proceeds from the Mayoral Ball will go to the new Esso BHP-Billiton Entertainment Centre, due to be opened in November.

Tickets are $50 per person, including a three-course meal, and entertainment from two bands. Music will continue until 1am.

Mayor John Jago is encouraging the community to get behind the ball, for a good time and a good cause.

"It’s important we can gather the community for special events like this, and create a sense of belonging and a sense of community," he said.

"And we have a great project to get behind, in a fund-raising sense.

"The Esso BHP-Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre features a 400-seat auditorium and will create a venue for Wellington Shire to host major events and major conferences, bringing tourism dollars into our region."

Council is aiming to raise $20,000 for the Entertainment Centre. Telstra is providing $10,000 as the major sponsor of the ball.

For ticket enquiries phone Council’s customer service line 1300 366 244.
