Westernport Water backs business eco-cred

BUSINESSES across the region are invited to showcase their eco-credentials in the inaugural Westernport Water award for business environmental sustainability.

By Susan Webster - 3rd March 2008 - Back to News

The water corporation is recognising its business and commercial customer base by sponsorship of the 2008 SuperPages Business Awards, organised by Bass Coast Shire Council.

Westernport Water is one of the community and government groups supporting the business awards, which are open for nominations until March 14.

Westernport Water’s Managing Director David Mawer said the water corporation was a long-term supporter of Landcare, as well as activities for youth and sporting groups.

"We felt that we should extend our support to our important commercial and business customer base," he added. "They constitute a sizeable proportion of Westernport Water’s water demand and usage and often lead the way in boosting water-efficient practices.

"We anticipate the winner will display the sort of environmental stewardship that we seek to achieve."

Entry forms can be obtained from all council customer service centres or visitor information centres.

Entries close on Friday, 14 March 2008.  Awards will be presented on Tuesday, 15 April at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island Tourist Road, San Remo.
