Commemoration Snowy River MarchIn 2006 it will be 90 years since the Historic Men From Snowy River Recruitment March took place on 6th January 1916. By Delegate Process Association - 14th November 2005 - Back to News Commencing in the small town of Delegate before an enthusiastic crowd of 500 people, the march created tremendous public interest and drew young men eager to enlist from every town and village along the way to Goulburn.
On 28th January the Delegate community will be commemorating the March, and will endeavour to create a scenario replicating what took place on that summer morning 90 years ago.
The town will be decorated as it was then, there will be bands, entertainment and refreshments.
The Committee would love to hear from descendents of anyone who took part in the 1916 March and also the recruitment March which took place during WW2.
They would like them to take part in the re-enactment march which will commence on the original site, and continue down the main street to the School of Arts where the ceremony will take place.
It is hoped that there will be market stalls and musical entertainment in the school of arts during the afternoon.
