Tech school announcement opens training doors for young minds
Tech school to be developed at Federation Training’s Morwell campus for the increase access to quality education.
Latrobe City Council welcomed the Victorian government’s announcement of a tech school to be developed at Federation Training’s Morwell campus.Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that it was vital to increase access to quality education in the region.
"Council has participated in the planning partnership for this project over the last year and we are delighted that this announcement formalises the proposal for the tech school in Morwell.
"Provision of educational opportunities, particularly with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is a key building block for our draft Economic Development Strategy, which seeks to position Latrobe City as the Engineering Capital of Australia," Cr Rossiter said.
"We need to invest in our young minds now in order to reap the benefits of their knowledge and skills in the future. Tech schools provide access to training that generally has a more hands-on, practical approach. This type of learning can provide further education options to those students who learn best this way and can also offer a pathway to tertiary education at a later date.
"Coupled with the announcement of a new high-tech precinct flagged for Morwell, of which we await details with interest, this is great news for the future of our region," Cr Rossiter concluded.
