$340,000 For Yallourn North Town Hall Upgrade A major upgrade of the Yallourn North Town Hall is being supported with $340,000 in Victorian Government funding, Member for Morwell Russell Northe said today. By Russell Northe - 5th July 2012 - Back to News Mr Northe said the Yallourn North Town Hall & Amenities Upgrade project would provide improved access to community services and facilities for the local community as well as improved community connectedness through participation.
ˇ§The Yallourn North Town Hall is considered by locals to be an integral part of the town,ˇ¨ Mr Northe said.
ˇ§The building binds the community together and provides the potential for a comprehensive integrated facility for people of all backgrounds.ˇ¨
The Yallourn North Town Hall and Amenities Upgrade Project includes:
„h the addition of a community meeting room with heating and cooling and access to a kitchenette and amenities
„h the creation of direct access from the sporting oval to the toilet facilities
„h the addition of two sport and community change rooms with toilet and shower facilities
„h umpire change facilities
„h a kitchen upgrade with internal servery to the main hall and external servery to an undercover viewing area.
Mr Northe said the upgraded building would incorporate elements of environmental sustainability, such as high quality insulation and timed lighting, and be completely accessible, incorporating all-abilities signage.
Mr Northe said Victorian Government funding for the $680,000 Yallourn North Town Hall & Amenities Upgrade project would be provided to Latrobe City Council, which would contribute $320,000 along with $20,000 in-kind.
ˇ§This also includes a $20,000 Election commitment made in 2010 to upgrade the facilities.
ˇ§Our funding is being provided through our flagship $1 billion Regional Growth Fundˇ¦s Putting Locals First Program,ˇ¨ Mr Northe said.
ˇ§Putting Locals First is a $100 million initiative that enables regional communities to devise and deliver service and infrastructure responses that reflect local priorities,ˇ¨ Mr Northe said.
ˇ§It is supporting stronger and more sustainable regional communities by building their capacity to drive development in their region.ˇ¨
Mr Northe said the Yallourn North Town Hall & Amenities Upgrade project was expected to be completed in March 2013.
