Business assistance highlighted at partnership seminarInformation to assist business was the feature of a recent breakfast seminar, held in partnership between Latrobe City Council, AusIndustry, Regional Development Victoria, the Industrial Capability Network & Gippsland Area Consultative Committee. By Latrobe City Council - 20th August 2003 - Back to News Speakers from all levels of government, Federal, State and Local, joined together to outline their assistance programs, explaining just what is available to all businesses, large and small.
Latrobe City Investment Manager, Leo Billington, said the breakfast was part of a series sponsored by AusIndustry throughout Gippsland which have been conducted in a number of other municipalities.
"The Latrobe City breakfast was well attended with over 55 participants from many large and small businesses as well as other government agencies," Mr Billington said.
"The popularity of this seminar, shows there is enormous interest in learning about the various government assistance programs available."
Mr Billington said that while those in attendance took the opportunity to network and discuss related issues, they also heard from several key speakers.
Marlene Battista, from AusIndustry, outlined how tax concessions on Research and Development activities may be accessed. Diane Carson, Regional Development Victoria, explained the State Government business advice and assistance programs, and Alison Turner from the Gippsland Area Consultative Committee gave details about the Federal Government’s Small Business Answers Program.
"Bob Stevenson’s presentation about the industry database service provided by the Industrial Capability Network showed how easy it is for businesses to access competitive Australian based suppliers rather than importing," Mr Billington said.
"All in all, the breakfast seminar was very successful and more are being planned for early next year," Mr Billington added.
