Beyond the ClassroomA showcase of VCE artwork from Traralgon College, Lavalla Catholic College and Kurnai College University Campus will bring the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre alive on Friday 6 February 2015 from 6pm. By Latrobe City - 21st January 2015 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s deputy Mayor, Peter Gibbons, said that it was great to see art be taken up at a young age.
"Art is an important part of our culture here in Latrobe City and it is fantastic to see teenagers not only exploring art, but also sharing it with our community."
General Manager Planning and Economic Sustainability, Phil Stone, said the night would be a live performance showcase.
"There will be five live performances from drama and theatre studies students from Lavalla Catholic College and Kurnai College which will demonstrate the talent and creativity of our local arts students.
"Their studies deliver them the chance to create pieces of art or performance pieces which is fantastic for developing their creative talents and to have the opportunity to put on a formal exhibition of their work is an exciting prospect for the students," Mr Stone said.
"The Latrobe Performing Arts Education Program is very proud to offer this opportunity to celebrate the considerable achievements they have made in their VCE art and design work in studio art, drama and theatre studies.
"Whilst the performance night is scheduled for early February the exhibition is currently open and will run until Tuesday 4 March. The artwork on display is well worth a viewing," Mr Stone concluded.
