Multimedia Gallery To Showcase Young Filmmakers’ Works

From Saturday 14 April, in celebration of National Youth Week 2007, the Latrobe Regional Gallery will be showcasing video and multimedia work from the young people involved in roll PLAY Productions -

Gallery Director, Jacqui Hemsley, said that roll PLAY productions was a program for young people interested in filmmaking and includes productions by young people with and without previous film experience.

"The youth week exhibition will showcase short films addressing issues that are relevant to young people, not only within our region but across the globe. This exciting program of multimedia, short film, animation and art documentaries from Australia and overseas, is primarily targeted towards the community and visitors interested in film as an art form and to raise awareness of multimedia.

"These films will be featured at four sessions during the day - 10.30am, 12 noon, 1.30pm and 3pm in the new multimedia gallery on the ground floor of the Latrobe Regional Gallery," Ms Hemsley said.

"The multimedia gallery is the first of its kind within the region, and this dedicated space and program will add immense value to the gallery’s exhibition and public programs," Ms Hemsley explained.

roll PLAY Productions will run from the Saturday 14 April to Thursday 10 May 2007.

The Latrobe Regional Gallery is open 7 days, Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am – 4pm. Admission is free.
