Improved Boat Ramp Facilities For CowesConstruction of the Anderson Road Boat Ramp car park is currently underway and should be completed in about four weeks. By Bass Coast Shire - 14th November 2005 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Environment Manager, Paul Smith, said detailed planning and consultation was carried out with boat ramp users, the Conservation Society and the general community.
"This was to ensure the sensitive foreshore environment would not be put at risk, as well as significant improvements to launching and retrieval times for boat ramp users.
"The result will be a sealed car park that will maximise the use of the available area and provide orderly traffic management and safe pedestrian movement.
"Indigenous coastal vegetation around the car park will also be retained and improved," said Mr Smith.
Council’s Environment Team successfully applied for a grant to fund the improvement of facilities, receiving $126,000 from Marine Safety Victoria.
Final landscaping will be carried out in autumn next year when the weather conditions are favourable for planting.
