The competition aims to create a welcoming and exciting atmosphere for the thousands of visitors heading to Phillip Island for the 2005 POLINI Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

All businesses, large and small, in Bass Coast are encouraged to get into the racing spirit and decorate their businesses in the Grand Prix theme.

"The Grand Prix is a world class event and a great opportunity to showcase what we have on offer," said Bass Coast Shire Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden.

"There’s a world-wide audience focused on this area and it’s important that we take the opportunity to make great impression."

"When local businesses get into the spirit of this competition it creates a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and it’s a vital part of the mood and excitement that makes this such a fantastic event," Mr Bawden continued.

The competition is sponsored by Bass Coast Shire Council, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Lombard, The Paper People.
