Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neil Rankine welcomed the announcement saying "Council has been working hard for many years, lobbying for investment in our education system. This effort is reflected in our long-term plan for a Bass Coast Education and Learning Precinct and our Bass Coast Education Plan 2012-2017.

Cr Rankine sees this as a crucial time to gain similar commitments to education in our Shire from the other parties, with the Victorian Election only two weeks away.

"Any community would welcome this kind of investment promise, as we do. We call on the parties and candidates to match this commitment" said Cr Rankine. "Education is a basic ingredient in the success of any community. It creates the right environment for innovation and equips people and businesses with the skills to compete on a national and global stage.

"Council will continue to advocate for a dynamic education system for our community. We ask all the other parties contesting the Victorian Election to share and support our vision for a culture of life-long learning in Bass Coast."
