Visitor Guide Puts Spotlight On Victorian Arts And Culture Member for Morwell and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism Russell Northe has announced that the latest edition of a comprehensive visitor guide showcasing Victoria’s world class arts and By Russell Northe - 13th September 2013 - Back to News cultural institutions and calendar of events is now available. Mr Northe said the 18th edition of the Victorian Cultural Tourism Guide provided visitors interested in arts and cultural events vital information for planning their stay in Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
"The Coalition Government was committed to growing arts and cultural tourism across the state, particularly in regional Victoria and Gippsland where it is supporting regional arts institutions to present high profile international exhibitions and cultural events," Mr Northe said.
"The Morwell electorate has a range of diverse artistic organisations, and I encourage people in our local community to visit our local art centres.
"Noted within the guide is "Creative Gippsland", Latrobe Performing Arts and Latrobe Regional Gallery." Mr Northe said "Latrobe Performing Arts centre in Traralgon offers a diverse performing arts program for residents and visitors to Latrobe City; with shows ranging from drama, comedy, dance and live music.
"Latrobe Regional Art Gallery in Morwell has seven spaces which present a diverse program of temporary exhibitions which showcase the work of Australian artists," Mr Northe said.
"Creative Gippsland is a collection of communities working together to promote the diverse talent, rich heritage, unique nature and creative culture throughout Gippsland. The website covers all the events, festivals, productions, exhibitions and performances that happen all year round in this area.
"The 2013-14 Victorian Cultural Tourism guide was produced by Cultural Tourism Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Tourism Industry Council, and with support from Tourism Victoria and Arts Victoria."
The Guide will be available at all Victorian Accredited Visitor Information Centres as well as through specifically targeted outlets across Australia and overseas.
The Victorian Coalition Government’s VicArts Grants program invests in the creative endeavours and professional practice of Victoria’s artists and smaller arts companies.
