‘Oceans of Stories’ for kids

Wellington residents are invited to bring their children, grandchildren and special friends along to their local library from 16th August, to help the Shire celebrate Children’s Book Week 2003 and the theme ‘Oceans of Stories’.

By Wellinton Shire Council - 11th August 2003 - Back to News

Wellington Shire Mayor John Jago said that the week would offer a wonderful opportunity for children to attend story-telling sessions and activities at Shire libraries in Sale, Maffra, Yarram, Stratford, Rosedale and Heyfield.

"We hope many children will be able to attend the sessions," he said. "Schools, playgroups and kindergartens are all invited and our library staff will be on hand to read from books nominated for awards. As always, there is a large variety of children’s books for browsing.

"Reading is an important skill for children to master and, like all difficult tasks, it is a lot easier if it’s fun. We are sure that the week’s activities will offer ‘Oceans of Excitement’ to our young readers."
