At a special staff presentation, Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin presented Mr Bawden with a certificate acknowledging eleven years of service at Bass Coast Shire.

Cr Goodwin praised the CEO for over a decade of service with the Council.

"Allan was instrumental in guiding the organisation through the difficult early years of amalgamation," said Cr Goodwin.

"11 years on, Bass Coast is financially sound with strong forward planning and enjoying its best levels of approval in the community.

"Those achievements are due in no small way to Allan’s leadership."

In addition to the Bass Coast award, Cr Goodwin presented Mr Bawden with a plaque from the International City/Country Management Association (ICMA), recognising 30 years of service to local government.

Cr Goodwin said the award recognising significant contributions and achievements in the advancement of local government administration, was a wonderful achievement.

"It is great to be able to formally acknowledge the work that our CEO does," said Cr Goodwin.

"I have been involved in local government in one form or another for many years, and Allan is one of the finest officers I have worked with.

"I hold him in very high regard," Cr Goodwin concluded.

Mr Bawden started his career in local government at the City of South Melbourne, before moving to La Trobe (then the City of Morwell). He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed Bass Coast Shire Council in 1995, and has been Bass Coast’s only CEO.
