Nationals and Liberals government committed $3M to rebuild and resolve asbestos issue at Foster Primary School as election pledgeFoster will get a fully rebuilt primary school under an elected Nationals and Liberals government. By news@gippsland - 31st October 2022 - Back to News Mr O'Brien said he had been working with the school community to push for a rebuild of the school since he was elected in 2015. "Foster Primary School was built in 1965 and is certainly showing its age. The school has asbestos issues throughout and literally has chunks of brickwork falling off its exterior."
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O'Brien with Foster Primary School council president Matt Wallis and his children Louisa and James celebrating The Nationals' $3 million commitment to finish the rebuild of the school Ensuring the best educationMr O'Brien said, "It's at the point where the school shouldn't continue to spend money on maintenance for things that really need to be replaced. It's not acceptable that our children and teachers have to put up with these sorts of facilities. "That's why an elected Liberal Nationals government in November will provide $3 million in funding to ensure we see a full rebuild of Foster Primary School." Mr O'Brien said funding had been provided four years ago for new modular buildings to replace blocks B and C at the school, but the main building still needed to be renewed. "I collected and presented the Andrews Labor government with over 1000 signatures on a petition backing the project before the 2018 election, but despite the enormous community support shown, Labor has failed to finish the job." "The Nationals will ensure the Foster community has a school it can be proud of and that local children can get the education they deserve. Only The Nationals in government are committed to delivering a better deal for our regional communities and ensuring we have access to a modern and safe learning environment. That's why we've committed to a 25% Regional Infrastructure Funding Guarantee to ensure the regions get the infrastructure we deserve." Mr O'Brien said. Pictures from Danny O'Brien MP website.
