Mr Ingram, the Member for Gippsland East, this week called on the Minister for Environment, Water & Climate Change, John Thwaites, to guarantee sufficient funds to the East Gippsland and West Gippsland Catchment Management Authorities to restore the Macalister, Avon and Mitchell Rivers.

"The East Gippsland floods have caused incredible environmental damage to a number of river systems like the Macalister, Avon and Mitchell rivers," Mr Ingram said.

"The government has already acknowledged that more funding will be required to repair this damage and the CMAs are assessing the extent of the damage and determining the full cost of these necessary repairs.

"I am pleased with the Minister’s support for the rehabilitation works so far and will continue to pressure the government for funding until the rivers are of optimal health," Mr Ingram concluded.
