Backing the Health of Victorian Farmers

Backing the health of farmers with a $4 million investment.

By Portal Admin - 29th July 2018 - Back to News

A Liberal Nationals Government will back the health of our farmers with a $4 million investment over four years in the National Centre for Farmer Health.

Rural Victorians have higher rates of mortality, disability and chronic disease than people in metropolitan areas.

The National Centre for Farmer Health, based in Hamilton, works to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of farmers, farm workers, their families and communities across Victoria and Australia.

The Centre is also responsive in times of particular need, with their Managing Stress on the Farm publication now having been distributed to over 18,000 agricultural communities.

The Liberal Nationals know food and fibre production is the backbone of our regional communities.

In addition to supporting the health of our farmers, the Liberal Nationals also announced this week we’ll establish a dedicated rural crime unit to help protect our farmers’ property and livestock.

When our farmers are productive and prosperous, all Victorians benefit.

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will back the health of our farmers and our rural communities with a four year investment in the National Centre for Farmer Health.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Country Health Emma Kealy

Daniel Andrews has proven time and time again that he is the Premier for Melbourne.

Farmers and country Victorians deserve a better deal on health care in rural areas, not the four years of neglect that the region has suffered under Daniel Andrews’ city-centric Labor Government.
