Wellington Shire Council and Repeat Products will exhibit the latest in 100% recycled plastic products on Friday 9 February.

The display will be at the Port of Sale between 10am and 1 pm.

The products on are from Repeat Products a supplier of innovative products manufactured from 100% recycled plastic from the domestic and commercial waste stream.

The exhibition will included an extensive range of products, including outdoor garden furniture (seating and benches), landscaping products, signage, wharf fenders, boardwalk planking and more.

"Sustainable purchasing is an important component of Wellington Shire Council’s commitment to the environment and to reducing the use of natural resources," said Lisa Crisp, Waste Education Officer for Wellington Shire Council.

"Buying back recycled products is helping to keep waste out of landfills and helps to support Victoria’s recycling industry and keeps jobs in our area" said Ms Crisp.

This is an opportunity for Council, Business, School and Community Groups to learn more about what is available in 100% recycled plastic, their durability and cost.

ADDITIONAL PLASTIC RECYCLING FACTS

  1. Every time you recycle 41 plastic bottles, you save enough energy to run a refrigerator for one hour
  2. It takes 125 plastic milk bottles to manufacture a 120 litre wheelie bin from recycled plastic
  3. Plastics are made from fossil fuels, the key culprit in global warming effects from human development
  4. Manufacturing plastics from recycled materials uses 30% of energy required to make plastic products from fossil fuels
  5. Remember to remove the lids and rinse the bottles before placing in your recycling bin
