International art exhibition calls Moe Library homeJiangsu International Youth Painting Contest found a home in Moe Library. By Portal Admin - 30th December 2017 - Back to News An exhibition of 50 winning art works from the Jiangsu International Youth Painting Contest is currently on display at the Moe Library, including the winning painting from Traralgon resident, Amelie, who won a major prize.
The competition received 180,000 entries from students aged six to 12 years, including more than 400 international entries.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said the display was a wonderful opportunity to browse the expressive creations from young people around the world.
"The theme of the contest was ‘My Home’. There are 10 countries represented in the exhibition, from as far afield as China, Cambodia, Brazil, Romania, The Maldives, Germany, Sweden, Poland and Russia. Amelie’s entry was selected as a major prize winner and hers is amongst the paintings on display. We’re very proud that a local student won and that we can host this delightful exhibition.
"The exhibition is touring galleries around the world and we’re thrilled to have it in the lead up to the festive season. Please visit the Moe Library and enjoy a taste of the culture, the lifestyles and the homes of the young people whose works are on display," Cr White said.
This display will close on 21 December 2017.
