Pedestrians in Yarragon and Drouin will have safer access to public transport and tourism facilities thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced $15,000 from the Labor Government’s Flexible Local Transport Solutions program to build a new concreted area in near the shopping strip in Yarragon to allow pedestrians to safely access public toilets, carparks and BBQ and picnic areas.
A further $11,000 will be used to build a 165-metre-long footpath in Drouin connecting a new bus stop on Buln Buln Road to the existing footpath in Walker Drive.
This bus service is often used by elderly residents from a nearby retirement village and families with young children.
The Labor Government’s Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program provides funding for local transport initiatives, services and infrastructure in regional Victoria.
The program works with local transport forums, regional partnerships, local councils and community organisations to identify and deliver local transport opportunities.
