Join the Odyssey at the entertainment centre By Wellington Shire Council - 9th March 2005 - Back to News Theatre-goers are invited to enjoy a tale weaving Greek folk songs and fish ‘n’ chips with moments of joy and tears, when Odyssey – a remarkable one-man show about a young Greek-Australian’s immigration passage to Australia – travels to Wellington Shire Council’s Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre, on 23 March.
This straight-from-the-heart tale is an amusing, contemporary adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, weaving the ancient Greek classic with a family’s journey to, and settlement in, Australia.
Odyssey promises a delightful and inspiring performance of conventional and physical theatre, featuring a range of colourful and engaging characters. It draws on the past and the present, to illustrate one man’s search for identity and what it means to find home. It portrays a part of Australia’s post-war history that everyone can identify with.
This must-see show will commence at 8.00pm on 23 March. Tickets are $36 for adults and $32 for concessions. For bookings and more information please call the entertainment centre’s box office on 5143 3200.
