Have Your Say On The Draft Ventnor MasterplanLocal residents and park users in Ventnor have the opportunity to help improve the quality of community open space in the area. By Bass Coast - 5th October 2010 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council is looking for feedback on a draft Masterplan for the redevelopment of the Old Pine Plantation in Graydens Road.
Council’s Environment Manager, Paul Smith, said the Masterplan would be on display until 29 October 2010.
"The draft Masterplan is a significant step in preserving the natural values of the whole reserve and enhancing people’s enjoyment of the reserve by improving access and providing recreational opportunities," said Mr Smith.
"The draft plan includes a shared pedestrian and horse riding trail, with links to existing horse trails. It also proposes new indigenous plantings as well as information and educational signage outlining the environmental significance and history of the site."
The draft plan was developed after extensive input from the community and users of the Ventnor recreation reserve. A survey conducted in February this year helped to identify community expectations for the area.
"It was clear that the Ventnor community wanted the Old Pine Plantation works to be integrated into the existing trails and the survey identified other uses for the whole Ventnor Common," explained Mr Smith.
"We summarised this feedback and passed it onto consultants who then developed the draft Masterplan."
"A copy of the draft Masterplan and a feedback form has been sent to local residents and users of the existing park; however we would welcome feedback from all members of our community."
The final plan will be prepared after considering all comments. It is anticipated that Council will endorse the final plan in early 2011 with some minor coastal track upgrade works also commencing around that time.
The major works program for the upgrades will be considered in the 2011/2012 capital works program.
The draft Masterplan and feedback forms are available from the Customer Service Centre in Cowes or can be downloaded from Council’s website at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au
