Liberal Nationals Will Finish Duplication of Princes Hwy

Elected Liberal Nationals government to finish the duplication of the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale.

An elected Liberal Nationals government will get on with the job of finishing the duplication of the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale.

Daniel Andrews and city-centric Labor have put a handbrake on the long-awaited duplication of the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale, failing to provide the funds needed to finish the works.

If elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will revive the project, providing $9 million for the next stage.

It will mean long-overdue work to improve the 4km section of highway between Sheepwash Creek and Flynn, east of Traralgon, can be completed. An estimated 15,000 vehicles use this section of road each day.

The Princes Highway is a major arterial road for Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley and duplicating it between Traralgon and Sale will improve road safety, transport efficiency, and help attract more people to come live in and visit our region.

Labor’s delays have left locals frustrated with years of roadworks, despite a $132 million commitment from the Federal Coalition Government for the next stage of work to begin, once there’s a state government investment.

It’s no wonder the works have been delayed, with the Premier for Melbourne’s Roads Minister admitting under questioning in Parliament they didn’t know it was a priority road.

Daniel Andrews and Labor have failed to fix country roads, with the lack of investment to finish the Princes Highway duplication leaving the project languishing.

This duplication needs to happen which is why I’ve worked closely with the community over the past three years to make it happen.

We deserve better than Labor’s neglect. I’m proud to be part of a Liberal Nationals Government that will commit to finishing this work, for the benefit of Sale and our Gippsland communities.

Locals know all too well the impact of city-centric Labor governments, with delay after delay leaving us stuck on the go slow with roadworks that never seem to finish.

Finishing the Princes Highway duplication between Traralgon and Sale will improve road safety for residents and visitors and boost transport efficiency for our local businesses.

Comment attributable to Liberal candidate for Morwell Dale Harriman

Our region is closely interlinked and there are a lot of people in Latrobe City who travel east for work and play. That’s why I have been working hard to get this duplicated road project funded.

This will be a great project for the wider Gippsland region and we’ll make sure it is completed.
