Northe Praises Local Women in ParliamentRussell Northe acknowledged women's contribution in the International Women's Day celebrations. By Portal Admin - 1st April 2018 - Back to News Member for Morwell Russell Northe recently spoke in State Parliament to acknowledge the work and contributions of the many amazing women within the Morwell electorate as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.
In particular, Mr Northe highlighted the incredible work of local Disability Employment organisation, Work Solutions Gippsland and its CEO, Mrs Donna Faulkner.
Donna is a terrific example of a successful local business leader. She has been the CEO of Work Solutions Gippsland since the company was formed in 2002, she has been Chairperson of Disability Employment Australia, and is a sought after keynote speaker across national and international disability forums.
This is in addition to Donna being awarded an Australian Day Award for service to our local community in 2015.
"Work Solutions Gippsland prides itself on creating employment for people living with a disability, injury or health condition" said Mr Northe.
"Recently Donna and her team were awarded a preferred provider contract extension of their Disability Employment contract which is terrific news for the Gippsland community, meaning they can continue to create employment for members of our community who require specific and unique assistance" continued Mr Northe
Mrs Faulkner said, "I am delighted that Work Solutions Gippsland have been selected by the Commonwealth Government as a preferred provider of Disability Employment Services.
Tried, trusted and proven, Work Solutions Gippsland will continue the great work we have been doing for the past 15 years. As a leader in our field we are proud to provide Gippsland’s businesses with staff that want to work and make a positive contribution to their business" Mrs Faulkner said.
Work Solutions Gippsland is a locally owned and operated company, and has created over 5000 jobs for people living with a disability since operation began in 2002. They employ over 40 full time staff and is a great example of a successful local company who contributes strongly to our community.
"With Gippsland in our name and our DNA, Work Solutions Gippsland are committed to be leaders in the region. We have brought to Gippsland Job Shadow Day, which will occur again in September this year.
Now in its 5th year, 728 jobseekers have had the opportunity to Job Shadow 534 employers for the day.
The results of this experience for both jobseekers and employers has been valuable with just over 40% of Job Shadow Day participants gaining employment within 6 months of their Job Shadow Day experience" said Mrs Faulkner
