Heyfield Hospital Plans for Patient RelocationHeyfield Hospital is working with other health agencies and government departments for planning a possible controlled relocation of patients from the hospital. By Municipal Emergency Co-Ordination Centre - 12th December 2006 - Back to News "This is a precautionary planning measure only," said Mr Peter Craighead, CEO of Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS).
"At this stage staff are accessing patients needs and potential vacancies in other health care facilities within the region."
Mr Craighead said that the current Gippsland fires may pass close to the Heyfield township and it would be better if patients were relocated from the hospital.
"There may be considerable smoke in the area from the fires and this may affect patients and make a later relocation difficult," said Mr Craighead.
Central Gippsland Health Service is also assessing hospital in the home patients and district nursing patients for possible relocation.
Any decision to relocate patients will be made by CGHS in consultation with the CFA and Rural Ambulance Victoria.
