Hall Urges Students To Enter Anzac Prize

The Nationals spokesman for Education PETER HALL has urged Year Nine students in Gippsland to enter the 2006 Victorian Spirit of ANZAC Prize Schools competition.

By Peter Hall - 24th July 2006 - Back to News

Students have the chance to be chosen to participate in a two week study tour of Turkey, Belgium and France, by exploring ways in which the Spirit of ANZAC is relevant to today’s young Victorians.

"This is an excellent opportunity for Year Nine students to explore the ANZAC spirit and to relate it to their lives, with the chance of being rewarded with an amazing study tour," Mr Hall said.

He said students had the option of writing an essay, doing an audio or video presentation, a graphic or a CD-Rom presentation.

All competition entries will be assessed by regional panels before 27 state finalists are interviewed by a central panel in late January 2007.

"Ten students will then be selected to participate in the 2007 Victorian spirit of ANZAC study tour next April," Mr Hall said.

Previous entries have examined the way in which the ANZAC spirit is exhibited through local communities in times of hardship such as drought and bushfires.

"I encourage Year Nine students at our secondary schools to enter this competition for the chance to win an experience of a lifetime."

Registration forms must be submitted by August 25, 2006 and competition entries must be submitted by October 6, 2006.

Entry forms are available at Mr Hall’s office, 190 Franklin Street, Traralgon.

Phone 5174 7066.
