Councillor Michael Whelan re-elected as Mayor and Cr Rochelle Halstead as the new Deputy Mayor of Bass Coast Shire
Councillors voted unanimously for the term of Mayor and Deputy Mayor to remain at 12 months.
A new Deputy Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead was also elected unopposed. In congratulating Cr Halstead on her election as Deputy Mayor for 2022/23, Cr Michael Whelan also thanked Cr Leticia Laing for her contribution to the role over the past year. "Congratulations to Cr Halstead who continues to serve our community with infectious enthusiasm, passion and a drive for results".

Cr Whelan thanked his fellow Councillors for showing confidence in his leadership. "It's been an incredible year. So much has been achieved and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the community on what we all value; healthy communities, protecting our natural environments, sustainable development, social connection, creativity and a strong local economy. I look forward to working with the Deputy Mayor, fellow Councillors and the community over the next 12 months."
