Storm recovery support

Waste disposal

Skip bins are available in various locations across Mirboo North for the disposal of storm-related waste such as building debris. However, for other types of waste, individuals are advised to take it to the Transfer Station.

Pedestrian safety

It is crucial for individuals to adhere to road closure signs at all times. Ignoring road closure signage can lead to work being stopped and increased risk for emergency services and other teams.

Recovery support

Recovery support is available for individuals impacted by the storm. This support ranges from telephone advice on available services, to connecting our community with programs that can help them. Those severely impacted may be eligible for a recovery support worker who can assist them in accessing the necessary support.

VEC extends feedback deadline due to storm. Seeking public input on South Gippsland Shire Council ward boundaries for equal representation, submission closes on 13 March 2024

VEC extends feedback deadline due to storm. Seeking public input on South Gippsland Shire Council ward boundaries for equal representation, submission closes on 13 March 2024

VEC Boundary review

Feedback submission date extended due to the recent storm event. The VEC is seeking public feedback as they review the internal boundaries (wards) of the South Gippsland Shire Council. A review occurs when the number of voters per councillor is forecast to be outside the legislated positive/negative 10% tolerance in one or more wards at the next council election. This is to ensure that each voter is represented equally.

After considering public feedback, the requirements of the law, and population data, the VEC will make a recommendation to the Minister for Local Government. You can make a submission, and find the proposed ward boundary change and preliminary report on their website Victorian Electoral Commission page. Submissions close 5.00pm on 13 March 2024.
