National Volunteer Week will be celebrated across East Gippsland from 15-21 May acknowledging the important role volunteers play in our community. Volunteers help build our community and make it a better place for everyone. Volunteers are the change makers, they put in an incredible amount of hard work in keeping our community connected and stronger.

Grateful for volunteers
Mayor Cr Mark Reeves said we have hundreds of volunteers who devote countless hours to our community. "Volunteers range from individuals and groups running community events, sporting clubs, social and service clubs, fundraise for equipment, help those less fortunate, care for our environment and we want to say a huge thank you."
To celebrate National Volunteer Week, East Gippsland Shire Council is hosting complementary events throughout the region to recognise every volunteer for everything that they do for the community and a chance to say thank you.

Volunteer honour roll
Registrations are still open for the East Gippsland Volunteer Honour Roll, a council initiative launched last year with over 117 volunteers nominated with a combined 1,565 years of service.
"The Volunteer Honour Roll is a permanent list of names recognising those in our communities who give up so much of their time to support the community. While volunteers don't look for praise, we would like to use National Volunteer Week to let all volunteers know they are appreciated. If you or know of someone who is deserving of a pat on the back for their efforts in the community, nominate them now and we'll ensure they are included on the roll." Cr Reeves said.
