Alberton Timber and Treatment Plant completes massive upgrade with $550,000 assistance grant from federal government
Local MP Darren Chester recently visited Alberton Timber and Treatment Plant to inspect the new peeling plant and hear about the operation's expansion.
Mr Chester said the plant had just undergone a $1 million upgrade with the Federal Government providing $550,000 for the peeling plant facility to support local jobs. "The project has taken almost three years to complete but the end is in sight with the final inspection of the new installations to take place early next month," Mr Chester said.

Investing for the region's future
Mr Chester also said, "It's a credit to the Olarenshaw family business and an investment in the future of the region. The new peeling operation allows the mill to put out a larger range and volume of post pine products for a range of different industries such as agriculture and construction. This expansion provides long-term jobs in a sustainable industry for South Gippsland."
