Latrobe City Council has attracted hundreds of families to one destination at this year's extra special Children's Expo. As part of National Children's Week celebrations, this free event for families, children, and their carers ran for a whole afternoon of entertainment from 1 to 6pm at Kernot Hall last Thursday. This was one of the first major events to be held at the recently refurbished venue.

Family resource showcase

The purpose of the event was to bring families of Latrobe City to one destination where they could discover what services and activities are offered locally and connect with other families. Latrobe City Council staff were available on-site to provide information on the range of Family and Children's services available for Latrobe City residents including kindergartens, immunisation sessions, and maternal and child health care services.

There was plenty on offer to keep the little ones entertained too, such as Real Dinosaurs, Fairy Renee, Luigi Zucchini Magician, Jumping Castles, Obstacle Courses, Arts & Craft, Face Painting, Stilt Walkers and more.

Family-focused community

Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said the Children's Expo was a successful and rewarding event for the families who were able to attend. "Latrobe City is a fantastic region to raise a family, and events like this help to foster this status. This annual event sees hundreds of children and their families take part enjoying the range of free activities and provides a pathway for families to connect with and engage with service providers that support the growth and development of our children."

"At Council, we are passionate about providing opportunities for our younger generation and events like this allow us to showcase our comprehensive resources, services and activities to people who may not have previously realised these things existed locally," said the Mayor.
