More Victorians may now be eligible for hundreds of Free TAFE and subsidised vocational training courses thanks to the Victorian Government. Two million more Victorians could now undertake free and subsidised courses, even if they already have a qualification. With Free TAFE, Victorians could undertake courses to provide them with skills for jobs across regional Victoria in community services, nursing, agriculture, early childhood, construction and more without the cost of tuition.

Free TAFE expanded

Victorians who have already completed a certificate under the Free TAFE scheme can now enrol in another course in the same priority learning pathway, and anyone with a Diploma or higher qualification can access free TAFE or any other government subsidised course.

The change will help address critical workforce shortages by opening the door for more people to get the skills they need for Victoria's in-demand jobs, regardless of their previous qualifications.

There are currently around two million Victorians who hold a Diploma level or higher qualification. These changes mean that these people will now be eligible to access free or subsidised training regardless of their previous qualifications. The changes apply to more than 500 courses, including more than 70 Free TAFE courses. Learn more about connecting people with skills.
