South Gippsland Shire Council update late February 2022 - Register now to have your say

As a council, we believe that our decisions are improved through the process of engagement with the South Gippsland community. We respect the ongoing nature of community engagement and in turn the opportunities we have to build partnerships with our community. Your Say South Gippsland is our new engagement platform where our community can find every engagement opportunity. It not only has online opportunities, but also shows you what face-to-face opportunities are available to talk about the topic.

We strongly encourage you to register so you can stay up to date on all engagement opportunities across South Gippsland. Streetlight upgrade project

In an effort to reduce energy usage and increase safety for our community, South Gippsland Shire Council, alongside East Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council, is undertaking a bulk streetlight replacement project. Community grants

Round two open for the community grants are available in the following categories:

  • Minor Projects and Equipment Grant (up to $5,000)
  • Major Projects and Equipment Grant (up to $10,000)
  • Festival and Events Grant (up to $10,000)
  • Planning and Development Reports (up to$10,000)

Your say South Gippsland

If you haven't already checked out our new engagement platform, Your Say South Gippsland, now is the time. With a mountain of opportunities coming up in the next five months or so, registering for this platform is a great way of keeping your finger on the pulse.

Council is hiring

They say variety is the spice of life, and this role has spice galore! We are looking for a Grounds and Maintenance Officer to work across council's two caravan parks in Port Welshpool and Yanakie.

The position is a fixed term role until 30 June 2022. During this time you'll have a range of responsibilities including:

  • General maintenance of buildings, gardens, lawns, edging, road and track, fences and picnic facilities
  • Emptying bins
  • Ensuring everything is cleaned and maintained to a high standard
  • Liaise with campers

You will also be provided with a vehicle during business hours to travel between the Caravan Parks. If you're a friendly person who loves working outdoors, has grounds and garden maintenance experience and are looking for a new challenge, maintenance officer page to apply now.
