South Gippsland Shire Council update late February 2022 - Register now to have your say

As a council, we believe that our decisions are improved through the process of engagement with the South Gippsland community. We respect the ongoing nature of community engagement and in turn the opportunities we have to build partnerships with our community. We are committed to making as many of these opportunities available as possible. This is where Your Say South Gippsland comes in.

In the Know is your opportunity to let us know what you think and provide your feedback, the council values your privacy as much as you do

Your Say South Gippsland is our new engagement platform where our community can find every engagement opportunity. It not only has online opportunities, but also shows you what face-to-face opportunities are available to talk about the topic.

We strongly encourage you to register so you can stay up to date on all engagement opportunities across South Gippsland. You will also receive email notifications when new opportunities are available and updates on projects you're following. Streetlight upgrade project

In an effort to reduce energy usage and increase safety for our community, South Gippsland Shire Council, alongside East Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council, is undertaking a bulk streetlight replacement project. The upgrades will run until the end of March. For more information or to ask any questions, please contact Brad Kijlstra-Shone on (03) 5662 9200.

The installation works are commencing mid-February 2022, to be completed by June 2022. Please note, weather and other factors can result in delays

Council meeting 468

The next council meeting will be held on March 16 at 2.00pm at Council Chambers, Leongatha. If you would like to watch the meeting live or when it suits you, please click the button below.

Council meetings are streamed live to the public as a means of enhancing transparency and public decision making, you can keep track of the streamings trough the council website

Community grants

Round two open for the community grants are available in the following categories:

• Minor Projects and Equipment Grant (up to $5,000)
• Major Projects and Equipment Grant (up to $10,000)
• Festival and Events Grant (up to $10,000)
• Planning and Development Reports (up to$10,000)

Your say South Gippsland

If you haven't already checked out our new engagement platform, Your Say South Gippsland, now is the time. With a mountain of opportunities coming up in the next five months or so, registering for this platform is a great way of keeping your finger on the pulse.

Registering allows you to receive regular updates on projects you follow and when new opportunities to voice your views come up. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, register now by visiting council's "Your Say" page.

Council is hiring

They say variety is the spice of life, and this role has spice galore! We are looking for a Grounds and Maintenance Officer to work across council's two caravan parks in Port Welshpool and Yanakie.

The position is a fixed term role until 30 June 2022. During this time you'll have a range of responsibilities including:

• General maintenance of buildings, gardens, lawns, edging, road and track, fences and picnic facilities
• Emptying bins
• Ensuring everything is cleaned and maintained to a high standard
• Liaise with campers

You will also be provided with a vehicle during business hours to travel between the Caravan Parks. If you're a friendly person who loves working outdoors, has grounds and garden maintenance experience and are looking for a new challenge, maintenance officer page to apply now.
