Sessions are suited to kids aged 3-5 years with stories, rhymes, songs and Easter themed crafts, plus a visit from Easter Bunny
Learning about folk music
The cultural music show uses catchy lyrics, audience interaction and dance to take children on a journey around the world, learning about the origins of folk music from different cultures. It features CJ and his puppet friends Nigel Crocodile, Lewis Lion, Scratch Dog and Roger Monkey in an informative and entertaining experience for the whole family.
Folkie Dokey will be on Thursday 21 April at Sale and Yarram, and on Friday 22 April at Stratford, Maffra and Sale. Wellington Shire Council Mayor Ian Bye encouraged families to enjoy the extra Easter activities at libraries.
Celebrating Easter
Mayor Ian Bye said, "These activities will be a lot of fun, particularly for kids who might not have ever seen a ventriloquist perform before. CJ and his puppets will be a great introduction for kids to learn folk songs from different countries and I'm sure they will be very entertained. The bonus Storytime sessions will be the perfect way to celebrate Easter for families who might not be able to attend in the regular time slots."
Places for Easter Storytime and Folkie Dokey are limited and bookings are essential. Visit Eventbrite webpage. New library programs Seniors Par-Tea, Between the Covers Book Club and Homework Hub will also be on offer at the usual locations during the school holidays, except for Easter Monday. Contact library branches for more information.
