Bass Coast Shire Council welcomes everyone from our agricultural community to join us on Thursday 15 February for a Farming Resilience Workshop with council's Rural Engagement Group facilitated by Leigh and Liz Crocker from Ion Group. Leigh and Liz support farming businesses to build resilience and help balance business and personal lives. They have practical experience working their own farm and related agricultural businesses throughout the food chain (wholesale, retail, farmers market and hospitality).

A light lunch will be provided and there will be opportunity to connect with council's Rural Engagement Group members and representatives from industry.

About the Rural Engagement Group

The Bass Coast Rural Engagement Group (REG) was formed in 2013 to create a forum for discussion between the council and the agricultural sector. Members of the group are selected to ensure that the REG represents a cross-section of geographical locations, rural activity type and farm size.

This event is a continuation of a larger program of works Bass Coast Shire Council delivered in 2023. The broader program focused on building resilience and wellbeing of the farming community across Bass Coast. It included three core elements:

  • Small Agribusiness and Farming Diversity and Resilience Program
  • Mental Health First Aid course tailored to farming communities
  • Program in partnership with Food & Fibre Gippsland to better support existing health and agribusiness support networks

Participate in our farming resilience workshop and enjoy a light lunch, hosted in collaboration with Bass Coast Shire Council's Rural Engagement Group. Discover strategies for resilience and harmonising business with lifestyle in this dynamic, practical session led by Leigh and Liz Crocker of Ion Group.
