South Gippsland's Community Planning Network is back for 2023.

The Network is led by the community for the community. It provides an opportunity for community groups from across South Gippsland to connect with each other to discuss ideas and ways to work together. It's also a great chance for groups to learn from the experiences of others, particularly in relation to community engagement and the running of projects and events.

Join the network

One of the main objectives of the Network is that participants will learn how to create community plans for their towns and how to deliver them effectively. The Community Planning Network started last year with a mix of workshops and presentations held regularly throughout the year.

At their final meeting in November, participants presented their community plans to councillors, as well as an overview of the community engagement that went on behind the scenes to develop them. They also discussed what was next for each of the groups.

This year, a mix of face-to-face and online meetings are scheduled with the first meeting to be held on Thursday 23 February at 5.30pm. Representatives from community groups interested in joining the Community Planning Network are welcome to join by contacting council's Community Strengthening team on 5662 9200.

Connecting community groups

Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "The South Gippsland Community Planning Network is a great initiative. There are so many terrific community groups in South Gippsland who have members with an impressive amount of experience in so many different areas."

"It makes sense to try and bring these groups together to learn from each other and to harness that knowledge into useful community plans for the future." Cr Hersey said.
