'Detox Your Home' available at Koonwarra and Wonthaggi Transfer Stations on Sunday 31 October
Highly toxic items, such as chemicals, should never be put in your rubbish bins or poured down the drain. You can drop off household chemicals at our free Detox Your Home events, held around Victoria.
Sustainability Victoria's Detox Your Home Program will be available at the Koonwarra and Wonthaggi Transfer Stations on Sunday 31 October. Detox Your Home is a safe, free and easy-to-use service to dispose of highly toxic, unwanted household chemicals such as solvents, poisons and cleaning products.
Highly toxic household items are only accepted at Detox Your Home events, and are held at locations around Victoria throughout the year, registration is required
Disposing toxic waste
Disposing of toxic items correctly will:
- Reduce the risk to the environment and human health
- Help keep our waterways clean
- Prevent chemicals from ending up in landfill
- Reuse precious resources
Items that can be dropped off include:
- Weed killers
- Cleaning products
- Cosmetics
- Cooking oil
