Australia Day 2023 awards are great opportunity to show appreciation and gratitude to individual or community group who has contributed to the East Gippsland community
Going above and beyond
Mayor, Cr Mark Reeves said the calibre of nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards is outstanding across the categories of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year. "People in our community continue to step up to the plate and demonstrate the Australian spirit, the East Gippsland spirit, of volunteering and making life better for others."
"It makes me very proud to see the contributions made in communities across our shire, and to see so many community members going above and beyond in their everyday lives, some for many years. I look forward to taking part in this event to reflect, respect and celebrate our community following the success of the previous Australia Day Awards events held at Nowa Nowa in 2022 and Sarsfield in 2021." Cr Reeves said.
The ceremony will include an awards presentation, a free community barbecue brunch, live entertainment and a Welcome to Country and flag-raising ceremony. The East Gippsland Australia Day Awards is proudly supported by the National Australia Day Council. For more information visit East Gippsland Australia Day Awards page.
