Danny O'Brien encouraged locals to donate unused nappies, supporting families in need through The Nappy Collective
Danny O'Brien urges Gippsland South locals to donate unused nappies through The Nappy Collective, helping families facing hardship and easing cost-of-living pressures with simple, practical community support.
The Nationals State Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien is once again calling on the generosity of the local community as he collects unused disposable nappies to donate to families in need through The Nappy Collective.
South Gippsland's Danny O'Brien is putting the call out for donations of unused disposable nappies as many local families do it tough
Supporting local families
Mr O'Brien's office serves as a collection point for donations of unused disposable nappies. The collected nappies are distributed locally to families doing it tough, through trusted local charities. Mr O'Brien said the initiative is part of a nationwide effort led by The Nappy Collective - a not-for-profit organisation that redistributes leftover, unused nappies to support families experiencing hardship.
"With the ongoing cost of living crisis, more families than ever are feeling the pinch. The Nappy Collective helps bridge the gap, offering dignity and practical support during tough times. Something as simple as having enough nappies can take pressure off struggling parents and ensure babies are kept clean, dry and comfortable," Mr O'Brien said.
Every nappy counts
Mr O'Brien praised the local community's ongoing kindness and generosity, noting that past collections have been a great success. "I'm always heartened by how generous the people of Gippsland South are. "Time and again, locals have stepped up to help others in need - and this is another opportunity to do just that."
The nappy collection happens a few times a year, and locals are encouraged to donate any leftover nappies they may have at home - whether it's a full pack or just a few. "Every nappy counts. If your child has outgrown a size or you've got extras sitting in a cupboard, please consider donating them." Donations can be dropped off during office hours at 54B Cunninghame Street, Sale throughout the year.
