Community workshop a great success By Bass Coast Shire - 17th February 2003 - Back to News The art of writing a successful funding submission was explored by 20 members of the community at a submission writing workshop held in Wonthaggi on Tuesday 11 February.
The workshop was held as part of Bass Coast’s StreetLife Project. Participants included representatives from a variety of local organisations including the B&B Association, South Gippsland Wines Inc, Grantville and District Business Association, Vietnam Veterans Association, San Remo and District Traders and Tourism Association and Bass Coast Shire Council.
"There are many grants available to community groups from local, State and Federal government as well as philanthropic organisations," said Margaret Murray, StreetLife Coordinator at Bass Coast Shire Council. "This workshop aimed to help participants access funding and assistance."
Sheree Risby used her extensive experience to guide participants through the process of preparing a funding application to all levels of government as well as philanthropic trusts.
Margaret Murray said that participants also learned how to use the right language when preparing a submission, to ensure they maximised their opportunities for funding.
"It was also a great networking opportunity and we hope to see some marketing partnerships evolve," said Margaret. For more information about the StreetLife Project in Bass Coast Shire, contact Margaret Murray on 5671 2211 or 5951 3311.
