Henry Bosch is the former chairman of the National Companies and Securities Commission and was the chairman of the Working Group on Corporate Practices and Conduct.
Since 1972 Mr Bosch has served on over 30 boards of companies and other organisations in commerce, industry, education and government.
He has advised many boards and has written and spoken extensively on all aspects of corporate governance.
In 1991 Henry Bosch was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia.
The Gippsland workshop is designed for newly appointed directors of companies or statutory authorities, directors of private or smaller organisations who may not have contact with experienced directors for leadership, senior managers or company secretaries who may need to take a leadership role if the board is new or inexperienced and experienced directors who wish to update their understanding of governance issues.
Henry Bosch will lead a detailed discussion on the role and responsibilities of a director using practical examples from his extensive experience as a director of 30 companies.
The session will cover the role and responsibilities of a director, the relationship of a director to management, the relationship of a director to shareholders, techniques for Board effectiveness, corporate governance issues for directors, how Boards make decisions, teamwork and harmony on Boards, director succession planning, director induction, the role of the chairman, the information a director needs, methods of evaluating BOD performance and the role of the CEO and non-executive directors.
The workshop will be held at GippsTAFE’s Morwell Campus on Thursday 25th July from 10am to 4pm.
Cost of the workshop will be $180, which will include a light lunch, tea and coffee.
