Bass Coast Shire Council kicks off the annual Best Dressed Business Competition on Tuesday 11 September. The competition aims to create a welcoming and exciting atmosphere for the thousands of visitors heading to Phillip Island for the Qantas Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
All businesses in Bass Coast are encouraged to get into the racing spirit and decorate their businesses in the Grand Prix theme.
"This is our chance to show the world what we have to offer," said Cr. Miranda Sage, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire. "The Grand Prix is a world-class event that is televised to a global audience, and we should be looking our best."
"Early interest in the event is strong, with pre-bookings ahead of this time last year," she said. "This means that we can look forward to a busy weekend right across the Shire."
The first 30 entries into the Best Dressed Business competition will receive a free starter pack valued at $55. The starter packs include event banners, event posters, and one general admission ticket for Saturday’s racing.
The competition is sponsored by the Bass Coast Shire Council, The Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and Lombard – The Paper People.
There are some great prizes up for grabs for competition winners.
First prize: 2 three-day Grandstand Passes to the Grand Prix (valued at $428) and 2 tickets to the Grand Prix Ball (valued at $130).
Second prize: 2 three-day Family Passes to the Grand Prix (valued at $396).
Third prize: 2 General Admission Passes for Sunday’s big race (valued at $120).
Judging starts on Friday 28 September. The judging panel includes Cr. John Gains from Bass Coast Shire Council and representatives from both The Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Phillip Island Motor Sports.
Winners will be notified on Monday 1 October and prizes awarded at the Council Meeting on 3 October. The winners will also be acknowledged at both the Official Welcome and the Grand Prix Ball, which means great publicity for the winning businesses.
Entry forms will be available from all Council’s Customer Service Centres and can also be downloaded from Council’s website at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au from Tuesday 11 September.
