Dairy code of practice seeks fair deal for all

The Australian Dairy Industry Council (ADIC) has launched the first Dairy Industry Code of Practice for standard contractual arrangements

By Portal Admin - 8th August 2017 - Back to News

The Australian Dairy Industry Council (ADIC) has launched the first Dairy Industry Code of Practice for standard contractual arrangements that are fair, simple, realistic and easily understood by both farmers and processors. The Code will include provisions that ensure:

  • there will be no retrospective price changes
  • all farmers receive payment entitlement accrued over the term of a contract or supply agreement (including 'loyalty payments')
  • if a farmer produces more milk than required or contracted to their primary processor and the processor does not want to purchase the additional milk, then the contract between the farmer and processor must allow the dairy farmer to supply the additional milk to other processors.
