The Andrews Labor Government told Victorians its failure to stop the closure of Hazelwood and the loss of hundreds of jobs in the Latrobe Valley would not force significant increases to power bills for families and businesses.AGL today raised electricity prices by 9.9 per cent on average for residential power users, while small businesses will pay 13.4 per cent more. For Alinta’s Powercor customers, residential power is up 10.5 per cent and small business power has risen up 15.1 per cent. "This is far higher than the 4 per cent rise claimed by Daniel Andrews, further raising an already high cost-of-living for Latrobe Valley families and businesses," Mr Northe said. "Daniel Andrews has failed to keep his promise on electricity prices. He can’t be trusted to come through with jobs for the people of the Latrobe Valley. "It is vital Hazelwood workers have real jobs to go to, that match their skill set, when the power station closes, so we do not see them and their families leave the region. "It is time for Daniel Andrews to come clean with the people of the Latrobe Valley on his plan to create real jobs that will secure the Latrobe Valley’s future."
