Northe writes to Minister for Mental Health pleading for Lifeline funding
Northe pleads for action regarding the minimal funding that Lifeline Gippsland receives.
Member for Morwell Russell Northe has written to the State Government Minister for Mental Health, pleading for action regarding the minimal State Government funding that Lifeline Gippsland receives.
"Last month I had the utmost pleasure in attending Lifeline Gippsland’s 50-year celebrations, where we reflected and celebrated Lifeline Gippsland’s fabulous commitment and contribution to the mental health and well-being of our community", Mr Northe said.
"But a long-standing issue that I’ve been raising on their behalf is the funding constraints they suffer whilst delivering these vital services", Mr Northe said. "Suicide has an enormous impact on our community – and Lifeline provide essential support to prevent local people taking their own life".
"That’s why this week, I have written to the Minister urging the Government as well as the Shadow Minister, to commit to doubling of Lifeline Gippsland’s funding – regardless of what happens in the November election’ said Mr Northe
"The vision for Lifeline is "An Australia Free of Suicide". Let’s get this amazing organisation and these incredible volunteers the support they need, so we can make inroads into this noble goal," Mr Northe said.
