Victalent Grants Now Open Regional athletes, coaches, officials and teams can apply for the popular Victalent grant program, for travel between July 1 2011 and December 31 2011, The Nationals Member for Morwell, Russell Northe said today. By Russell Northe - 19th January 2011 - Back to News The Victalent program provides $500 travel assistance grants to community sport and recreation organisations in rural and regional Victoria to help developing athletes and officials with the costs involved in the travelling necessary for training and competing, said Mr Northe.
"There are many talented sports men and women in the Latrobe Valley who have benefited from Victalent funding in the past, and I know there are many more out there who should consider making an application for funding assistance through their local sporting organisation," said Mr Northe.
"Many country athletes, and their families, find it difficult to meet the cost of travelling to sporting events for competition and training, and in financing the purchase of the equipment they need to succeed in their selected sports.
"Victalent provides some help to people striving to reach their sporting potential, which is fantastic.
"Active participation in sport and recreation activities is a necessary part of a healthy lifestyle, and I encourage clubs, organisations and community groups to discuss their application with the Department of Planning and Community Development Grants Information Line on 1300 366 356."
Applications for the current funding round close on March 1 2011 and guidelines and application forms are available from www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au, or from Mr Northe’s Electorate Office at 66 George Street, Morwell.
