Inverloch Gets DecorativeWork will begin next week on installing 19 new flag poles in A’Beckett Street, Inverloch. By Bass Coast - 7th December 2010 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Events Coordinator, Frank Angarane, said the poles would be installed between William and Alma streets.
"The poles will be used for Christmas and event decorations," said Mr Angarane.
"The Inverloch business association will also be able to use them to promote Inverloch.
"It’s long been recognised that Inverloch needs somewhere to hang decorations which is why we are completing this work."
Restrictions from electricity companies on using their poles for decorations mean local councils now must use their own infrastructure for decorations.
"Inverloch has a well established streetscape so it was a long process to work out where the poles could go without interfering with trees, existing poles and underground services," continued Mr Angarane.
"There may be some disruptions to traffic while the poles are being installed but we will keep these to a minimum. Christmas decorations will go up straight after installation.
"The plan to install poles in William Street could not go ahead, as we were unable to meet VicRoads requirements about clearance from the road," explained Mr Angarane.
