Thousands Of Dollars To Support The Delivery Of Quality Programs And Services At Learn Locals Member for Morwell Russell Northe today announced $12,447 in Training Delivery Support Grants for five Learn Local organisations in the Morwell electorate. By Russell Northe - 17th July 2014 - Back to News Mr Northe said the money would support the delivery of programs and services in the Morwell electorate.
¡§These grants will enable the five learn local organisations to enhance the great work they do in our local community.¡¨

The providers will use the money to purchase teaching and learning resources, to aid the delivery of programs and services to vulnerable learners that may face barriers to participation in skills training.
¡§The Victorian Coalition Government believes it¡¦s crucial that those with limited access to learning opportunities - early school leavers, unemployed, low skilled workers and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) ¡V have an opportunity to access quality education,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
More students facing barriers to an education are undertaking skills training since the Napthine Government came into office in 2010.
„h Indigenous students up 35 per cent
„h Disabled students up 49 per cent
„h CALD students up 95 per cent.
„h Unemployed students up 116 per cent
¡§Learn Locals play an important role in skills training, providing $14 million in pre-accredited vocational training and $71 million in accredited training in 2013.¡¨
¡§The funding announced today is in addition to the Coalition Government¡¦s commitment to spend almost $5 billion on vocational education and training over the next four years.¡¨
¡§This investment reflects the vital role skills-based training plays in the Coalition Government's economic strategy to build a better Victoria,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
