Netball Courts To Be ResurfacedSix courts in the Bairnsdale Netball Association’s Wallace street complex are to be resurfaced following a vote last night by East Gippsland Shire Councillors. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 24th December 2008 - Back to News A contract to resurface the courts worth more than $100,000 was awarded to Advanced Sporting Surfaces SA Pty Ltd.
A report to Councillors by Shire director infrastructure Chris Waites said the project would see the Bairnsdale netball court complex of six courts transformed from tired, weathered, slightly undulating asphalt to a modern cushioned acrylic surface suitable for all standards of netball.
Deputy Mayor Michael Freshwater said the resurfacing of the netball courts was a welcome move.
"It will provide a much needed lift in standards and hopefully create the opportunity to increase top class competition at the facility," he said.
Funding will come from Sport and Recreation Victoria, Bairnsdale Netball Association and East Gippsland Shire.
The work will be completed before start of the 2009 netball season that begins in March.
